Trip to Kilmainham Gaol Museum
After a class discussion our ESOL Level 5 class decided to explore a vital part of Irish history, the Easter Rising. As Kilmainham Gaol has such an important connection to the Rising, and houses many of the artefacts connected to the rising, we agreed that it would be a good place to go to gain an understanding of what happened during and after the Easter rising.
The students later wrote a reflective piece on their visit and most mentioned the sadness that the prison still holds and how it has given them a better insight into the relationship between Britain and Ireland.
A coffee afterwards was necessary to warm up, due to both the cold building and the chilling feeling that the tour guides tales left us with.
